CANCELLED REGISTRATIONS
Section 125A of the Optometrists Act 2002 provides that the Board is to make publicly available the name of
each person who is subject to an order of the Tribunal or Supreme Court that their registration be cancelled
or that the person not be re-registered. The Board is not required to make publicly available information about
those persons who are deceased or who are exempted under the regulations. This provision took effect on
4 December 2006.
Section 10AJ of the Public Health Act 1991 provides that a person’s registration as a health practitioner
under a health registration Act or corresponding health registration legislation is cancelled, if any of the
following happen as a result of an action, decision, determination or order of a registration board, tribunal
or court under that Act or legislation:
-
the person’s registration is cancelled,
-
the person is de-registered
-
the person’s name is removed from, or struck off, a register or a roll, or
-
the person’s practising certificate is cancelled.
The Act defines a "de-registered health practitioner" as a health practitioner whose registration as a health
practitioner under a health registration Act or corresponding health registration legislation (ie legislation
of another State or Territory that provides for the registration of health practitioners) is cancelled or
suspended as a result of disciplinary proceedings.
The names of the following persons have been removed from the Register of Optometrists in New South Wales on
disciplinary grounds:
